More Than a Church
A WELCOMING CHURCH
The Myrtle Grove Christian Church was organized in the year 1880 under the leadership of Rev. J. W. Mabray and Rev. Dunn acknowledges as its sole head, Jesus Christ, Son of God and Savior. It acknowledges as kindred in Christ all who share in this confession. It looks to the WORD of God made known to us in scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to prosper its creative and redemptive work in the Church and the world. It claims as its own the faith of our ancestors, the historic church expressed in our creed. It affirms the responsibility of the Church in each generation to make its faith its reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and purity of heart and the practice prevailing among Christians.
It also affirms the freedom and responsibility of the individual soul and the right of private judgment. It recognizes two sacraments: Baptism and the Holy Communion or Lord’s Supper.
It further affirms the congregation’s involvement in social action, in its ministry to the poor and needy, the oppressed, the captives, the in-firmed and non-church-ed.
It too affirms the congregation’s cooperative stewardship of time, talent, and money.
It accepts into membership any of God’s children who profess to love the Lord and wish to join us in celebrating this love. It also accepts as associate members those persons who are members of another church but accept Myrtle Grove as their church away from home.
It is amenable to no other ecclesiastical body but accepts mutual comity with the Association and Conference.
